Fluffy American-Style Pancakes

A classic, no-fail recipe for making perfectly light and fluffy American-style pancakes from scratch. Ideal for a weekend breakfast with your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter or oil

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix the wet ingredients: milk, egg, and melted butter.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and gently mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly grease with butter or oil. Pour about 1/4 cup (60ml) of batter onto the skillet for each pancake.
  5. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook until golden brown on the other side.
