Fluffy American-Style Pancakes
A classic, no-fail recipe for making perfectly light and fluffy American-style pancakes from scratch. Ideal for a weekend breakfast with your favorite toppings.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup (240ml) milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp melted butter or oil
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix the wet ingredients: milk, egg, and melted butter.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and gently mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly grease with butter or oil. Pour about 1/4 cup (60ml) of batter onto the skillet for each pancake.
- Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook until golden brown on the other side.
