Cook Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

  • 1/2 lb (225g) ground beef
  • 1/2 cup (60g) breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup (25g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For the Spaghetti & Sauce:

  • 4 oz (115g) spaghetti
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 can (7 oz / 200g) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large bowl, combine all meatball ingredients except the olive oil. Mix well and form into 6-8 meatballs.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the meatballs for 2-3 minutes per side.
  3. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through. To check, one should no longer be pink inside, or a thermometer should read 160°F (70°C).
  4. While the meatballs are baking, cook the spaghetti according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  5. In a separate skillet, make the sauce. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil over medium heat, sauté the minced garlic until fragrant, then add the crushed tomatoes, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened.
  6. Combine the sauce with the spaghetti and serve topped with the baked meatballs.

Enjoy!
