Ingredients

For the Steak:

  • 1 large beef steak (about 1 inch / 2.5cm thick)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper

For the Mashed Potatoes:

  • 2 large potatoes, peeled and diced

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil the diced potatoes in a pot of salted water until soft and easily pierced with a fork.
  2. Drain the potatoes well and mash them. Add the milk, butter, salt, and pepper, and continue mashing until smooth and creamy. Keep warm.
  3. Season the steak generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  4. In a large pan over medium-high heat, melt the butter. Add the steak to the hot pan and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness is reached.
  5. Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving with the mashed potatoes.
