Classic Japanese Bento Box with Tamagoyaki
Create a beautiful and balanced Japanese-style bento box, featuring a traditional rolled omelette (tamagoyaki), smoked salmon, rice, and edamame.
Ingredients
For the Tamagoyaki (Rolled Omelette):
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp mirin
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 tbsp oil
For the Bento Box:
- 1 cup (30g) mixed salad
- 3/4 cup (140g) cooked brown rice
- 1/2 cup (75g) edamame
- 2 slices smoked salmon
Instructions
- For the tamagoyaki, beat the egg with soy sauce, mirin, and salt.
- Heat oil in a small skillet over medium-high heat. Pour a thin layer of the egg mixture into the skillet.
- Once the egg has set slightly, roll it into a cylinder and push it to one side of the pan. Pour another thin layer of egg, and once set, roll the existing cylinder in the new layer. Repeat until all egg is used.
- Remove the omelette from the pan, let it cool slightly, then slice into rolls.
- Assemble the bento box by arranging the tamagoyaki slices, smoked salmon, brown rice, edamame, and salad in your container.
Enjoy!
